Here is the link to the Suresight web sight, it will answer the sight alignment question as well as others you may have. With exception of shooting impressions, which can be answered here in this thread.

Not quite sure why you would post a confused emoticon, they say a picture is worth 1000 words, Chaim has a wonderful graphic illustrating the concept and sight picture on his website.

Your point of aim is at the tip of the triangle, so if your aiming for bull, the tip of the front sight (and the tip of the triangle) should be lined up with where you want your shot to hit. The tiny yellow dot in the center of the front sight is used for elevation (it should just be visible over the center blade of the rear sight).

I use a Galco "Silhouette" holster with my 5" XD (picture taken before new sights were added):

I've noticed absolutely no difference drawing or reholstering since adding the new sights.

I was also impressed with how bright these sights "light up" from just 10 seconds of "charging" with a regular flashlight. Very nice.

Very happy buyer.

Everybody has been saying that they are good for self defense situations, but I am curious about plain old target shooting or even competition. My brother and I always have races to see who can hit the 8inch pop-up targets at 25 yrds away at the local range. Will I still have that kind of precision and speed at that distance, or is precision sacraficed with the big a fast sight? If I buy these sights I want to still kick his butt! I would also like to punch out the orange dot on my targets at 15 yrds away, but can I still do it? So far I like what I see.

XD-D.C.,
The honest answer to your question is: It depends. Many (but not certainly all) people find their accuracy the same or even better at longer ranges with SureSight. It depends to a large extent on personal preference, and how much time you give yourself to acclimate to the new sights. (100-300 rounds is good for most people.)

I suspect that not only will you give your brother a run for his money at the 25 yard poppers, but you'll knock his socks off at closer distances!

Sorry everyone, my computer got fried so I've been out of action for a week or so and not able to follow everyone's results with the sights.

Hey, that sounded familiar!
I am slightly confused here. I just joined the forum two weeks ago in order to join the discussion on the Suresights and hopefully to contribute to and benefit from this great resource of knowledge and experience, and I feel like you are casting doubt on the accuracy (no pun intended) of my range report. What, are you trying to insinuate that I am some kid trying to impress people by posting fantastic reports of what an expert shot I am, then conveniently neglecting to provide proof? What basis do you have for publicly doubting me like this? We are among the very first customers to try these sights on our XDs: are you the standard? If someone says they shot x with these sights, do you disbelieve them because it happens to be better than your own personal results?

I'm not angry, but I did want to express my confusion at what I read in your post because it seemed like bad taste to someone who just joined. Not like I'm one of your buddies on here with whom you joke around etc.
I've decided to be complimented though, not insulted.

OK.
Well as for the sights, I shot a few hundred more rounds with them and ended up taking them off the XD. I may put them on my P228, haven't decided. I would like to say +1 about the non-snag front sight, I had no problems drawing from a Don Hume IWB holster and I don't think this sight has any greater tendency to snag on a shirt tail etc than other sights.
I do think the tip of the triangle works well as the point of aim and I didn't have to spend any time finding out where it hits, that much was very easy and instinctive. I also think their visibility is superb and I am confident that I would see them in a stressful situation (at least as confident as I can be I guess).
My problem was that I think they made me change my wrist angle to line up the sight picture, and I liked the natural point of the pistol so much to begin with that I just don't want them on this gun. Again this is because I want to carry this gun pretty soon. I think they are great for target sights and can be used successfully for carry, just not for me in this particular situation. But they work as advertised and are worth a try for sure.

SAtownXD,

I'm sorry you've decided to take the sights off your XD.

I am a bit confused about something, and I just wanted to ask you to clarify--I'm not casting doubt on your assertion, I just don't understand how it can be.

A person's handgun must be aligned in a specific position in order to hit a given target, regardless of what type of sights are on the handgun. If you change your grip angle with SureSight as opposed to other sights, how is it possible for you to still hit the same target? It would seem that the gun would be pointing in a different position because of your changed grip angle...

Thanks,

--Chaim
