Yeah, the front sight is huge.

I couldn't promise you yet, but yes, I think my group was off because the sight was off. It was one of my most consistant groups ever, not scattered but in one large ragged hole. I am more than satisfied that these are accurate as target sights, but the jury is still out on whether they help me get onto the target faster or whether they require me to adjust once I have the gun up. I don't think I'll know for a few hundred more rounds, just because they are such a drastic change.

Thanks! Just wiped it down good. Pictures took some work, it's actually a 3-year-old-highschool-graduation-present camera. 3.2megapixels. New camera card for Christmas, so I can fit the big pics on there.

Great pics and report. I just looked at my XD Service and the sights are positioned almost in the same spot yours are. I hit what I shoot, SA did the custom work and installed the sights plus test fired it.

I could see how the Suresight could hit high when aiming. Next time you go to the range fire it from a bench rest or supported position. See where it hits on paper. Maybe it's just you getting used to the sights. Shooting it from a rest will tell you if its the gun or you.

Well I guess I don't need to post any pictures of the sights on my weapon, it looks like the ones already up. Mine is a duty version.
I will however add the information that I gathered today.
1) Follow the instruction sheet
2) You must take your time and file to fit (as witnessed by the damage
to sights from the guy who posted his pictures)
3) You will need at the minimum a dial vernier caliper

As to the function of the sights, it's my understanding that these were designed as a fast acquisition combat sight. They function in that capacity just as designed IMHO. I'm a patrol Deputy and they seem to work well with getting a center mass acquisition (or head shot ) and the double tap follow up is very fast and right where you need it to be.
I went to the range today after installing the sights with the help of a Glock armorer friend, it took us about 2 hours of patient file, trial fit, file some more work. Well worth the effort. At the range my friend and I shot double tap strings along with some 6 shot strings, all shots center mass or right where aimed. No shot taken over 7-10 yards. As we were finishing up, a squad mate of mine rolled up to the range and started B.S.'n with us. He asked about the sights, I of course rattled on. He carries the department issue Sig 226 in .40. He asked could he shoot my XD, after shooting the XD with the Suresights, he was truly impressed . He thought that these were the best combat sights he'd ever used, and he only shot 3 mags of 12 rounds ea.

My overall impression, very, very effective sighting system. The same opinion was reflected be another Deputy, along with my S/O's armorer and my friend the Glock guy.

I would definitely need an XD experienced smith for that, but they sure look cool. I don't think my kydex holster would allow for that big front sight.

Enjoying my XD .45ACP Tactical. need to break in my 870, and my wife's XDSC9.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

Dualcert, great information. I'm going to have to set aside the $$$ for the sights next month and try them out. Post the pics don't be shy... Lets see what you have setup.

Your Kydex holster will work. Today at the range I used my Fobus paddle that I carry off duty with, no problems. Also my Safariland duty rig works fine too.

I got my sights a couple days ago and immediately took my XD to my gunsmith to have them installed. He calls me up about 2 hours after I dropped them off to tell me he can't get the front sight off no matter how hard he pounds on it.

I tell him OK, nevermind then, I'll just send it in to Springfield and have them install the front sight. About a half hour later he calls back and says he can remove the stock front sight, but it'll probably be damaged beyond use if he proceeds. I think about it for a minute and tell him to go for it (the cost of a new front sight - if I ever go back to the stock sights - would be less than the shipping charges to ship it to SA and back).

Anyway, it's done and I'll pick it up after work today. Total charge was $15 (and loss of stock front sight).

I'm looking forward to taking it out back and unloading a few hundred rounds as soon as I get her home tonight...

When SA put Trijicon's on my XD they broke the sights also. No big deal they won't be used again. Besides their are enough people on the board who have replaced factory sights you could pick a set up.
