Is the release still scheduled for the 18th?

I was all ready to answer in the affirmative, and decided to double check. Below is a copy of a letter I emailed to everyone who ordered XD or Sig sights.

We have just learned that the facility that applies the fluorescent yellow coating to our sights has encountered a problem, resulting in a significant setback.

While our Glock sights are still scheduled to ship out as promised this coming Monday, the XD and Sig sights have been delayed. We will not know the extent of the delay until approximately late next week. At that time, we will provide you with a more accurate time estimate.

We are truly sorry about the delay, and would like to offer you three options to deal with this unexpected situation.

1. You can receive upgraded shipping to get the package faster.
2. You can receive a $10.00 refund per XD or Sig sight that you have ordered.
3. You can cancel your order, and request a full refund.

If you ordered a Glock sight together with a Sig or XD sight, you can expect your Glock sight to ship out next week, and your other sight will ship free of charge.

I would like to personally apologize for this inconvenience. I promise you that we are working diligently to get you your order as soon as possible.

Expect another email update as soon as we can give you a more accurate delivery estimate.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

I run a manufacturing operation and know that startup manufacturing problems generally mean unexpected process variability that results in quality issues. I would like a little more info from you regarding the issues with the coating so I can decide the best option for me. If processes are being ironed out I would rather wait while you go through your learning curve for a high quality product. It also bothers me that you promised to ship by the 18th at the latest and then let us know about this one business day ahead of time. Please give us a little more detail.

In this case, it was just luck of the draw. They had begun the Glock sights before they had to divert resources to another project.

This particular problem is not technical in nature, but rather logistical. The facility fell behind on a much larger order than mine, and informed me that they would be late in completing SureSight's order. I passed on the information to you shortly after I found out.

I just sent out the following email to those on the XD waiting list who've placed orders:

12-21-06

As promised, here is the follow up email with an estimated delivery schedule for your XD sights.

We will ship your sights no later than January 8th.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Again, I would like to personally apologize for this inconvenience.

Man, Chaim that really wasn't that much of a wait at all. Probably couldn't have got them installed till the first of the year anyway, with everything going on. Thanks for always keeping us informed in a timely manner. Always a pleasure doing business with people like you. (this is where a thumbs up moticon would go if we had 'em)

Didn't want to start a new thread SO....

i looked at the "new and improved" website. I like it.

As for the XD sights. Are they still scheduled for the 8th of Jan?
