I shot in a USPSA match last weekend and I had the horror of shooting my first Texas Star!! If we could have left this one stage out, I would have had a very good match.

Any suggestions in case I ever have to shoot one of these things again?

And I bet they wouldn't let you shoot the bottom plate first. The real question is, did you have to reload to get all six

And if so, how many times?

Got frustrated and had to do 2 reloads first time I encountered one of these demonic torture devices.

The key to the star is to walk into the stage PISSED OFF bigtime, just hose it down and all is good

My best is 3.96 with a 4" XD

Yep, it took me two reloads to clean the thing. I gaurantee you I will be pissed the next time I go up against one of these demons. I have a score to settle

We have six of those (Demonic things) in our club here in Vegas. I watched my son last summer put five mags out of his XD on the ground trying to clear two of them. The key is to shoot them top to bottom, and just watch your front sight as you shoot em.

Don't EVER shoot the bottom plate first. That's what I did the first time I met one, and then when I shot one of the upper ones, because the bottom was so light, the whole thing SPUNNNNNNNN!!!!!

Matt Burkett covers this a little in his newest video. You start with the one on top to prevent a big spin. Then you work your way down going from one side to the other. If it starts spinning just put your sights in a position where a plate is going to pass by and fire just before it gets there.

The real pain in the butt is when there's hardcover over the entire star except the bottom plate thus requireing you to pull off some good accurate fast shots or sit there waiting for a single plate to spin around!
