Nah, the better one is to cover the thing with not hard cover (we used a wall) but use no shoots instead :P
Yeah, I like to be a bastard sometimes!

Texas stars can be ok if you have are not shooting at them past 10 yards. We had one last year but they put it at 20 yards!! Boy was that challenging! The advice here is all excellant. Don't shoot the bottom always start at the top!!

Thanks for all of the advice and since misery loves company, I am feeling a little better.
So, I am ready to take on the next star and maybe I can do it in only one reload

BTW, I have done one in 6 shots, and another actually took someone else handing me a spare mag because I ran out.

My 3.96 was at probably 10yd, because it was a sideshoot (hands natural, on signal draw and engage). All hits.
The key is front sight on this sucker, if you aren't using it, don't even waste the ammo. With just watching your sight versus someone who isn't, its like compareing Elmer Fudd to Dave Sevigny! :P

We had one at a 3 gun match... On a rifle stage. I was using a full size Fn Fal. I was able to clear it in 2 extra shots. Had to run down the plates. the 308 carried them a ways

This sounds fun and intense, wish I had the foggiest what we were reffering to? Wish I had time to shoot competitivly ...

The spinning target at the end is a Texas Star. Most of the time from when I've shot them, they start stationary, in that particular stage, another piece of steel started spinning the star. The star works on balance, knock off the plate and gravity takes over trying to balance thus it begins to rotate. For best results, you start at the top plate and work your way down zig-zag'ing back and forth until all five are down. The plates are usually held on with a spring-like clamp
