Meh its just another gun. I own one, and it sits in the bottom of my trunk. There ugly yes, and they tend to Malfuction either during Prolong shooting, or instense/stressful shooting situation (ex: high speed shooting during IDPA or IPSC). Trigger is like 100pounds compared to every handgun in the market . Its really a rock of a handgun. BUT, it will get the job done. When you get more shoots out of the way, you'll probably want to go ahead and upgrade your handgun with one with a nice trigger, since no one that I know offers a trigger job for them.

IMO. For the money, its the best bang for buck handgun you can get. But personally if I only had $150 bucks to spend on a handgun, I would rather find a used Ruger p89. The AK's of the pistol world

I have a C9 that my best friend gave me before he shipped out to Afghanistan. Polished the feed ramp and polished and de-burred the trigger contact points. It works just fine and eats anything I feed it so far. I love to unpack it at the range and out shoot my buddies with it. I only shoot 45ACP so its cool to have some really heavy zinc slide 9mm fun sometimes($).
I wouldn't buy one but I also wouldn't give anyone crap for having one as long as they use it in a safe and proper manner at the range. Its just another pistol that happens to be cheaper than all the rest.

My buddy had a 9mm Hi-Point. I asked him recently how the gun was doing and he told me it broke...the slide broke in half.

How much more excited would you be out shooting people with a Hi-Point!? I think that would be worth all of the jeering etc, right there! You could use it as an excuse if you shoot like crap as well...Hehe. I drag race motorcycles and there is no better feeling than smoking a 1000CC crotch rocket on a 600. Basically the same thing here IMO.

I owned one for a while. While it shot ok. It weighed way to much. I used it for a tackle box gun. If he wants to shoot a match with it, then so be it. Just make sure your wearing your shooting glasses. Just in case

You have the typical reaction to Hi-points. What makes you think it is so much less of a gun that a S&W? The warrenty is better and the it gets the job done. It goes bang and hits the target. There was a review on the Hi-point carbine and a Ruger 40 or 45 carbine. The Hi-point won, better accuracy, less jams and was $250 bucks cheaper. It also carried a better warrenty. How many other manufactors have a LIFETIME warrenty no questions asked ship it we fix it warrenty? NONE, with other proof of purchase, What you said about thugs, I guess everyone with an AR-15 is a D.C. sniper then. Where's the logic in that?

Yes I want to shot the match in Oxford, I don't have any other pistol to shot. I don't want to go to just shoot the rifle match either. I'm tring to make what I got work.
No offense to you but High Points are pieces of Pot Metal crab. I have seen them break when they were dropped, They have crappy triggers. Its a good thing they have a life time warranty because if you shoot them you will be using that warranty however you will be paying more for shipping than the gun is worth. Get rid of it and get a quality firearm. Hipoints are for drug dealers and other criminals.
