I went and bought one of those 5 dollar air soft holsters at Wal-mart and hated it! I gave it to my buddy who has a Hi-point 40 and he says it fits like a glove. So it's cheap and if you don't like it you're only out 5 bucks

I know what blowback and locked breech means and why the gun has to have the huge slide. My point being though, the huge slide translates into more reciprocating mass=more recoil. The point being, its a poor design of the gun and a reason why other pistols are much better.

Though it is not a deciding factor, i tend to judge a gun by the way it looks, whether thats good or bad, i dont really care. its just wut i do! And there is no one that can honestly say they like the look of the hi-point!

That said, i know in some cases money may be a serious issue, therefore the person may go the hi-point route and theres nothing wrong with that! i just look at the $160 or so bucks it cost as $160 i could use or save towards a different gun! just my 2 cents! not worth much!

I saw a guy shoot a perfect score with a high point to get his CCW. I have only shot one a couple of times but they seemed pretty reliable, but i agree they are ugly.

My buddies cousin bought a HI-POINT .45 ACP. It went boom every time he pulled the trigger.

He eventually sold it for the same price he paid for it.

How many can say that same thing about reliability and salvage price with any of the guns they have bought brand new and sold later on?

My buddy bought one years ago and it was the biggest piece of crap Ive ever held. It shot 4 inches to the left at 21 feet and had the overall appearance and feel of a piece of junk.

If you like them, buy them up, but some of us appreciate better weapons. Im not a gun snob, I own several makes and models from various manufactures.

I think we're getting a little off thread here. If the guy wants to use a Hi-point in competition that's fine, in my opinion any way. Yes you might get sneered at but oh well. Also, in my opinion, I will never own a Hi-point. One of the guys that I work with and obviously shoot with has a 380 and a 40 cal Hi-point. I've shot them both and, to put it lightly I don't like them at all. The ergonomics for me were terrible, plus neither of us could hit the broad side of the barn with them, although he'd never admit that. They are inexpensive and it's hard to argue the price point and yes the warranty is great. So.......... like Ichy said, if you want one buy one, but I won't. That's just me and my two cents.

I keep hearing about thier inaccuracy in this thread but look around the internet and you will find lots of people that say they are some of the most accurate handguns they have every shot. The barrel is fixed to the frame which contributes to better accuracy.

Iv owned and shot a .40 before, and i noticed once the barrel heated up(shot #4 and up) they started pulling to the left (each shot pulled anouther inch to the left). If you kept pulling to the right you could easly keep them all on target. I used to take it rabbit hunting and never had a problem. If you shoot it well who cares, it will make the victory sweeter if you out shoot everyone there with a $150 gun
