IDPA XD question

Ill still considering a revolver but, i found out the gun club i just joined is starting IDPA tournaments. I think it would be fun to get involved in competitive shooting, even though i wont win i think it will really improve my shooting skills.
So... are the XD 9 and .40 Tactical pistols "IDPA Approved"?

I've been thinking about doing the same thing here lately...

I'be been doing IDPA with my XD9SC. It's alot of fun, but a little rough with the price of gas & ammo.

Pretty much any off the shelf pistol that could be used as home/self defense. I believe the only caliber requirements are 9mm or greater for semi-auto and .38spl for revolver. They alow some modifications like trigger work, certain sized mag wells and sight changes.

All XDs shoot in the ESP division, and the XD45ACP can also shoot in the CDP Division. IDPA classifies the XD as a single action pistol. Each Division has a list of allowed modifications.
Wheel guns are fun to shoot...the thinking man's firearm!

I think that would be a lot of fun too and you would have to improve your shooting skills. I'm not sure where the closest place would be for me though and with gas like it is..hmmm I think I'll check it out anyway.
