9mm or .40 for USPSA / IDPA
Wondering for those of you that shoot IDPA specifically or even IDPA which caliber is better. For USPSA you can be in the production division with a 9mm or .40. 9mm folks probably have a slight advantage. With a .40 though you can be in the limited division. 9mm ammo is a bit cheaper. Hmm? You're thoughts for those of you that shoot USPSA and have pondered and figured out this question.
Thanks.

I reload so .40 works best for me. Can load major pf for Limited & L10, and load bunny fart minor pf for Production & IDPA.
If you don't reload 9mm will be the easier on the wallet. |

I'd like to use the weapon as a carry gun as well so I was leaning toward the .40. What weight bullet loads are you using and what is your approx price per round?

Seems like last time I figured it up was about $.16 per rd. I use 180gr RN Berry's, and 180gr Zero HPs.

I don't shoor IDPA so I can't comment on it but I would go with 40 for USPSA. Pistol Gear has 9mm conversion barrels comming out soon so that's an option too.

.40 S&w
A 9mm will shoot minor in USPSA, so if you can shoot all "A"`s on target real fast, great. .40 can be loaded to shoot either major or minor as you choose. In production class no matter what caliber you shoot it scores minor.
As for IDPA, all you need is 1" per second over power factor velocity and you are good to go. I shoot a .40 and reload everything for it. Your choice. |

agreed, if you're planning on shooting USPSA get the xd40 tactical. you'll be able to shoot major PF in L-10 (you're handicapped in limited due to mag capacity even with the arredondo basepads) and you can either load minor PF 40 for production or just get a 9mm conversion barrel and switch them around depending on what class you're shooting.
