I shoot with both eyes open and it makes my transitions faster.
Try doing some 10 yard sight picture dry fire drills (WITH AN UNLOADED PISTOL). Start the drills slowly and get a good sight picture with both eyes open.

I shoot one eye with precision shots like 100+ yards shots...at closer range I shoot with both eyes open. If a deer is running or trotting and I have to take the shot I'd shoot both eyes open no matter what distance, well up to 150 yards or so....

Both eyes open. Had a hard time when i had to go to Bi-focal glasses. It took me about a year to master them.

DOWN RANGE TELEVISION with Michael Bane - DOWN RANGE TV - DRTV
A good video on Rifle shooting and has a great opnion at the end on this subject. Eric Lund is one of the best 3 gun shooters out there for those that don't know. BTW I shoot with one eye, because a get a clearer/faster sight picture that way, as I have don't have a overly dominant eye. I don't squint though (that would cause my other eye to dilate and that reduces vision), I use modified glasses that block out the second sight picture. I can shoot with two eyes, it just is not as precise or fast. If I had sight where I saw one good sight picture, I would shoot with two eyes, but I don't so I do what works. |

i'm a both-open guy.
at least with rifles, haven't shot the pistol enough to really get a feel for which is better... i'll probably be both open with it too.

I practiced both eyes open, by doing a bunch of dry firing.
Sat down in front of the TV & shot at people whether they deserved it or not.

Both open for me.
In bulls-eye competition, I'll stick a little white strip of paper in my headband to obscure the front sight on my non-dominant eye, but keep the rest of the peripheral field and light intensity constant. Otherwise, both open and practice... |

I use the front sight!
That red fiber optic looks too much like a Cmore dot. Besides.. who uses that black thing on the rear of the gun now a days anyways? lol
