Thanks for your video and for the time it took you to post it.
The compatition you were shooting in looked like a whole lot more fun than punching paper. How does a person go about getting started doing this and whats the USPSA web address that can tell me where the shoots are held and so on.

Thanks,
Arthur.

The baby is due June 1, but hopefully he is early, so I can make the A1 for a day.

LOL. I LOVE the trees come July. Nice and shaded. I've only been to Texas a few times and had to golf with my manager. Now I see how you guys stay so fit and lean over there. Ya'll are running from one shade to another, and you dehydrate all of the water from your bodies. lol

I shoot at a few ranges that don't have any trees or anything, and it's unbearable at times.

YouTube - Aristotle USPSA Rentonf F&G

I placed 3rd overall in my division for my efforts, beat by a couple old schoolers that showed me a trick or two.
Impressive!

I too am interested in getting into this sport with the same weapon.
What holster do you use?
What modifications did you make to your XD for competition?
What sights do you use?

Thank you for answering my questions. I really appreciate the help!

Did you do the custom work yourself?
If yes, what resources did you use to do it?
If no, who did you have do it?

What rear sight do you use?

I am partial to 2 dot sights like the Heinie Straight 8 slant pro or XS Big Dot, what do you suggest?

No, I picked it up already set up from one of my regular shooting partners.

but none are really custom work except maybe Canyon Creek did the trigger job, everything else, including sights can be done at home if you wish. If you can tap a pin, you can change the mag release, I swap it out regularly because I also shoot the same XD .45 in IDPA as my CDP gun. and if you can turn a screw you can install the mag well yourself.

Sights are one of those preference sort of deals, and I've seen plenty of people use all sorts with some line of success. But fiber optic front sights, and plain adjustable rears are what most competitors widely use and prefer.

The sights on my XD are Dawson Fiber Optic front, with Stock rears that are blacked out. I have plans to swap out the rears, I've only had the gun since January.

Here's said gun in question.

Let me just say, WOW! Nice looking pistol. I appreciate you posting the pic and for the information and advice. Thank you!

One more question, do you have to use 10 round magazines for competition? I have the 13 round mags.
