consider this:

if you ever intend to get a 4" service or 5" tactical to compete with (which you will once the competition bug bites you) you should buy full capacity magazines for your SC and install the spacers.

This way all you have to do is take off the spacers to use them on the full size guns.

Dude, you'll be fine. Just need a decent holster, mag pouch and tac-light and off you go. Later, if you really like the Xd's, talk to Lovestoshoot about a good Xd Tactical 9mm. It will be similar to the gun you have now and easier to use. Have fun and be safe!
