Here is what I have setup. They stay outside year round. It is about 200yards off my back deck, I can hit the big one with the 10-22 nearly half the time...
![]() Here is the bigger target. I call him mr bad man.... 1/2 steel that rings really well. .22lr and all pistol rounds are fine. It is angled down and directs most splatter in the ground. I will shoot at these targets from as close as 5 yards with pistols. Never an issue. I have shot in excess of 2k at these so far. ![]() |

target
my rifle targets are 100, 250, 350,450,and 500 yards..small steel round pieces of 3/4 in scrap. They are nice for rifle but not what I was looking for to use as pistol targets...I do liek the idea of a slight tilt to keep bullets hitting the ground though

No, don't use jacketed bullets, use only cast lead when shooting at steel targets.

This is what I built, for less than $30, and most of that was to pay someone to weld them for me. I built 3 of them. Very simple, cheap, and easy.
*NOTE* This is not the exact one, but this is where I got the idea. It ALWAYS returns, perfectly. ![]() |

Sorry that picture was so big, but I wanted him to get a good look at how it was built.
On another note-- Make sure you use BOLTS to secure the target (red piece) to the swinging arm. If you choose to weld it (like a friend did), you'll find it very difficult to replace the target, if ever needed. Last edited by Tripledigitride : 03-09-2008 at 08:13 AM. |

I think that's just lead on the steel.
