USPSA Shooting
I am interested in getting into USPSA shooting competition. It looks like its a lot of fun and a great way to get out and shoot more. Does anyone here compete in this? Do you use your 45 XD or a different caliber?
Thanks in advance. BB |

XD9 Tactical in Production here too
You can use your .45acp without issue, many people do. My suggestion is go to shoot, go early and tell the Range Officers you're a new shooter, they'll help you with the rest... Over time, you'll memorize all the stupid rules along with the rest of us.

I just went to my first shoot this past year, I should have started earlier. Also used my xd45 in Limited - 10. Here is a short list for what I learned the first trip.
Go out to www.uspsa.org and "Request Info". My regional director gave me a call 30min after I made the request and filled me in the the other clubs in my area that were also having matches. for the club you plan on going to contact the match director and give them a heads up that you are planning on comming out, helps with the new member safty meeting. Use your gear that came with the XD. I purchased the mag kit from pistolgear that gave me an extra mag hold and the extra mags I needed for the match. I took 5 mags with me and 3 boxes of ammo (150). Bring a snank and water. I had a blast. Remember, don't shoot too fast, take your "A's". I like the forms at this site for new shooter info also: www.brianenos.com/forms/indes.php . Around here you need to pass the safety class first. I think they make exceptions but check with the club.
I haven't been in awhile but I shoot an XD9 Tac in Production. Maybe some day I will get a classification?

I shoot my XD9 Tac in Production but your XD45 would work fine in the Limited-10 Division.

I shot my XD-45 all last year at local matches. I'm going to 9mm though next season. Even with the "pud" reloads I was shooting, I really didn't see the benefit to shooting a load/cartridge that was well into major power factor and not getting and advantage in scoring for it.
