Ditto here. I went to a classifier to check things out and was told by the RSOs (good friends of mine) to just go get my gear already. I ran and grabbed my stuff and shot the classifier and have been hooked ever since.

That's the way it should be. If you can demonstrate safe gunhandling, do it up!

Mystuff is loaded in the range bag, will watch a few but going to shoot, also my son is going and jeepinbanditrider is probably going to loan him a gun so he can shoot, also jeepinbanditrider is bringing his AR so maybe I will shoot that to, guess it is going to be a fun shoot not a classifier.

Yes they are as is the holster. If you have questionable gear, most clubs will let you use it anyway, or loan you something that fits. Unless it's a major match, the club I shoot with will let you use whatever you have and advise on getting or borrowing something different.

Here is a tip to those who are new to IDPA. Tell the Safety officers that you are new. We go out of our way to make triple sure you understand the course of fire and any applicable rules. And most importantly shoot safely!!! Speed comes with time. No one is expecting you to be fast out of the gate. But they are expecting you to be safe!!! You are only up against yourself so play it safe, have fun, and realize we all started out the same way you are.

This is totally good advice. Even though I am great friends with the guy that invited me, I called him the other day and thanked him for the invite and said I would be back. He said that it was a good shoot cause everyone was taping targets and picking up brass and having fun and fellowship together........I really enjoyed it.
