3 gun question

I have been trying to get to a local club's 3 gun match to see what this is all about. Yet again this month, I will be unable to attend. Does anyone have a video of a typical 3 gun match COF? If not, could you explain it to me?

I'll describe the stages that the Area 5 director who shoots at our club put together.

6 plate rack, one paper on each side, one popper on each side.
Start with gun on table, loaded, safety on. On signal engage plate rack and two poppers with shotgun. When shotgun is empty, place it on table facing downrange, engage with pistol the two papers and any remaining steel.

Another one was strictly shotgun.
Start at port arms, shotgun loaded. Engage texas star, then you had to engage some clay birds thru a 55gal barrel, then a few more birds, then a few more thru a port. It was like 24rd course. The clay birds were in these type of "holders" made out of rebar type of steel.

It will vary from club to club, a good idea is to email whoever the coordinator is to get details along with how much ammo you should need for each run. 3-Gun is a hell of a lot of fun for me!

At the Atlanta Indiana club there is normally two pistol stages, two rifle stages, and two shotgun stages. Most of the time you are normally engaging USPSA paper and steel targets. Sometimes in the shotgun stages you are breaking stationary clay birds, and shooting the Texas star. It's a lot of fun.

All I can say it I had a chance to goto one and i didnt get up early enough and I regreted it. I went to look later on in the day and I wanted to kick myself ... If you have ever shot in a defensive match then its looks like 3 times the fun,

Check with Kyle Farris in your area, I believe he is in Columbus.

Goto brianenos.com and look up Flexmoney. He may be able to give you some advice about local clubs and 3 gun matches.
