What IDPA tactics can get me killed on the street?

I realize IDPA isn't self defense training. But there are a lot of things that I think are good to practice. Like drawing your pistol and acquiring the sight picture quickly, follow up shots, transitioning to another target and getting that sight picture, etc. Just aiming and shooting without the luxury of extra time to check if you have the perfect grip and the perfect Isosceles stance and slow controlled breathing and concentration is quite a challenge.

Like standing still, shooting the stage best on a course description and retaining magazines.

If you feel it is good practice, go for it. I enjoy IDPA and agree that playing the game makes you a better shooter.

Agreed. I won't be standing still in a real world situation. I'll be shooting my way out of the situation.

Yes, IDPA is making me a more versatile shooter.

So you're saying it's better to be a virgin the first time you pull your gun out of your carry holster, in a hurry and under stress? Strange attitude.
