Tactical reloads

I went searching through Google Video for tactical reloads. What I found were these...[sigh].

Anybody know of a decent tac reload video? Do you grab the fresh magazine with your index finger and thumb then use your palm and other three fingers to catch the partially used magazine?

Wow, I really liked the guy in green (can you be any slower and reload without taking any less cover?) and then the last link where the guy is all smiles at the end where he's probably missing the target with most of those shots.

While at Thunder Ranch we did practice Tactical Reloads but the truth be known, more times than not in a gun fight you are going to run you gun dry and therefore be doing a speed reload.

I am sure there are some cases where it would be practical to do a tactical reload however, under the extreme stress of a arm confrontation, the manipulations you have to make with two magazines isn’t going to be as easy as it on the range trust me.

"Muzzle!" ...at our club repeatedly pointing your weapon up in the air during reloads will get you DQ'd.

Why?
The air is a safe place. Up or down so long as its not covering a part of your body or someone pointing up range.

I don't disagree but I still want to improve my tac reload skills for IDPA.

We shoot IDPA indoors. Up or down is not advised.

You don't catch the magazine, you let it fall to the ground.

In IDPA you only drop a magazine to the ground if it is EMPTY! It's bad news to drop a mag with ammo left in it.

Personally, I drop the mag and stow it in a pocket, then grab the new mag. It's a bit slower, but not as slow as fumbling with two magazines and/or dropping one that you have to pick-up.
