Dominant Eye Question

I'm Right hand/eye dominant, but ever since I had the Intralase procedure, the vision in my left eye has been better. I've always shot both rifles and handguns with both eyes open. My question is this: would it affect my accuracy/performance if I shot lefty? Is there a way to train my left eye to be dominant?
Thanks,
Dave

I don't know what to tell you. I had monovision Lasix, and I'm kind of stuggling. My dominant eye is now my closeup, reading eye. And when I forget and use my right, I can't see the sights.

There is a thread about this on Brian Enos' forum. Not sure what you can do now that the horse is out of the barn.

You dont have to shoot lefty to use your left eye for aim. I have friends who shoot right handed with left eye dominant.

Just tilt your head and use the left eye.

keep both eyes open and place the weapon in the middle of your torso, between your shoulders. Your strong eye will take over and your will have good shot placement.

For handguns it's not a big deal.

I'm right handed, left eye dominant. Also myopic, astigmatic, and presopic, but never mind that.

In one of Matt Burkett's videos he went into cross-dominance. Short story. Keep your head erect and don't alter your stance. When shooting two handed simply slide the gun a couple inches over to your dominant eye. It's not a problem if you don't make it a problem.

Now for longarms it's a different story. For either scoped rifles or shotguns I have to place a strip of Scotch Tape over the dominant eye to make the non-dominant eye take over. Looks goofy but works. After a while I don't even notice the tape there.

Closing one eye isn't a good option. Closing one eye doesn't reduce your vision input by 50% it's more like 65%. This is due to the strain put on the open eye and the lack of binocular vision.

My eyeglass correction is for the dominant eye to be focused 4" in front of my closed fists. Where the handgun front sight is. The non-dominant eye is focused on distance.
