Your competiton ammunition of choice
I have been shooting WWB value packs for IDPA, for two years. They have done me well, never had a problem, however I am looking for a more accurate & powerful round, if it exists.
I have learned through trial and error (mostly error) that 115g is not enough, especially on the heavier steel pepper-poppers. What 9mm rounds have you shot in competition, and do you feel one is more accurate than others? Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I shoot CCI Blazer......the aluminum and brass. I've had no problems with either, but I agree, on steel......... 9mm is 'iffy'........

Mike,
Do you shoot the CCI 115g or 124g? Also, have you tried CCI Speer Gold Dot Ammo? Thanks, Scott

I shoot PMC 115gr FMJ's, it's cheap, $109.00 case of 1000, has brass cases and is pretty dependable. I've only had 9 FTF's in 6000 rnds, something I'd like the self loaders to match.
If you go to RobLeatham.com you'll find he uses it also for a few of his pistols in competition as well as others types. It's all listed in the types of guns he uses section, so stop by and check it out, you may find something you'll want to use Good Shootin'

I contacted PMC to see what they would recommend. I will share the information, once I get a response.
Skygun9, where do you buy your ammo?

2.5 days later and still no reply from PMC. Nothing drives me crazier than a company you need to beg to take your money.
I bought some 9mm 124g at Wally World. I will give it a run against steel over the weekend. If the poppers and plates drop, I am good to go! God Bless!

the secret to dropping poppers and plates with a 9mm is to hit them high and use 124 gr ammo the extra 9 gr increases the momentum that actually pushes the plates over. Also, if the plate has been hit and isn't going down hit it again (double tap) lots of times that will do the trick.
Remember, hit 'em hard and hit 'em often!

Wolf works pretty good for the $.
I know, I Know, its Russian **** but if it goes bang every time and hits where I aim, thats all I need. Maybe a new extractor every 10,000 rounds due to the steel but look at what I saved getting there. Use it in IPSC 3 gun matches in calibers 9mm, 45acp, 40 S & W, .223 & 7.62 X 39, never had a problem and have fired over 10,00 various calibers. If it ain't broke why spend $$$ to fix it??

I saw a lot of people at the american handgunner shoot big steel targets two or tree times to get them down and out of the way faster. I also know a lot of people who shoot 147 cmj to knock down the steel a little easier. Try this link
