1st time at IPSC match

Went to the Range14 IPSC match here in NC. Shot production class / minor.
Good times and learned a bunch from really good shooters.

Some of the stages were like the carnival shooting gallery!
Six events total including: Fast and the furious, Color me fantasy (?), the mover, star shoot, standard cover, and one more I can't remember...

Shot around 200 rounds, realized that I need way more range time, and only came in tied (with like 30 people) on one of the stages and had tons of fun so I met all of my expectations!

Oh and the XD-9 worked flawlessly! My right thumb placement made the slide slam forward a few times after the last round, but that's operator error not the weapon's fault. Could not say the same for my friend's $1000+ Kimber 1911...

Cheers and happy shooting!

On my Matt Burkett video, Matt hit the top then worked his way down, alternatings sides to counterbalance the spin. Don't shoot down one side, you'll just get the star thing spinning like crazy!

I'm not good but thats what I do, shoot down the side that is. ALWAYS shoot the top first and the star will start to rotate as you go down the side. Each time you hit a star the next one will come up and stop, thats when you pop that star. If you get ballsy just hit them as you go down

To me going from side to side takes to much time and makes you move to much....thats just me what do I know.

Funny, we had this exact convo. over in the never-ending post earlier today. The texas-star (spiny star, in my words) kicked my ass today too. No worries, I'll be back for my revenge.

The kicker of it all was that you had to shoot a random color on the star that was determined by flipping a card!

Mine spun around like a top after I hit like 3 lollipops...

Oh well. There's both luck and skill involved in this game

Cheers,

texas stars

We have set ours in our club to be activated by a popper, that starts it spinning, just another twist to the game. BTW I saw KC shoot a star by starting at the bottom. I guess his idea was it will rotate the heavyest to the bottom the fastest,, he just left a pile of plates at the foot of the star in about 2 seconds flat.
