Looking for clubs/ranges in/around Pittsburgh, PA
I know the season's over for most places, but I'm looking for recommendations on IDPA/USPSA clubs in the Pittsburgh area, as well as ranges (I live in the South Hills).
I've already hit this link (http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/f...l.asp?State=PA), but wanted some personal opinions too. Please also let me know if there are places I should definitely avoid. Thanks |

First off, Welcome to the sport!!!
I don’t know about IDPA, but as for USPSA clubs: Pitcairn / Monroeville sportsman club. http://www.pmsconline.com/about_us/about_us.htmThere a relatively new club with a lot of great people helping out. East Huntingdon sportsman. http://www.geocities.com/ehpsa/ Be warned, their monthly matches will spoil you, they rival some clubs sectional matches. Clairton sportsman. I haven't shot there in a while, (I work too D*MN much), but again, a great group of people. Hope this helps. Doc. |

Thanks GunDoc, I'm looking into Pitcairn (also from talking to someone else) and will probably stop by one of these nights to check it out.
R Dub: I was looking for personal recommendations. |

I can second GunDoc's recomendations, Pitcairin and East Huntington both do excellent jobs at putting on matches. I've only shoot Clariton once but it was nice. Matt Trout down at East Huntingdon puts on a nice beginners class also.
Hopefully come this spring Airport Area Speed Shooters will have matches going at Mcdonald Sportsman Club http://www.mcdonaldsportsmen.com/ , they were at Greater Pitt but the club shut down. Bunch of good folks here also, I got started by going to one of their new shooter classes. Depending on where you are and whether you mind driving Castlewood puts on nice matches up in New Castle also. http://www.castlewoodpistol.com/ You can pretty much shoot USPSA matches every Sunday of the month March through October and some Saturday's around the Burgh. If you don't mind a little more drive there's also some great montly matches over in OH as well within about 2.5 hours or so of Pittsburgh.
