Umm,
An Open gun REALLY needs a LOT of rounds in the mag.
What would the round count be on a 9mm Major 170mm magazine?

I'm thinking in the 28ish range. Those 2 guns are steel guns so they don't need a lot of rounds just need to be fast. I'm sure somebody will drop in a nice aftermarket barrel and comp and come up with a way to get 28 rounds in a 170mm tube for an XD soon. Hell if they can do it with glocks....now if only they would make the .40 on a .45 frame so I can get more rounds of .40 for limited!

I just picked up a 5" XD40 today that's going to be my Limited gun.
Novak Magwell, the +4 Novak Mag extension, and some Dawson sights and I should be ready to break out of L-10 and into Limited.

Your still going to be out rounded. Most limiteds I've seen carry 22 or so rounds of 40 in 140mm mag. 16 still isn't bad unless you get some stages that are between 16-22 where the other guys won't have to reload.

Do you mind if I ask where you got the mag extensions though? I'm thinking of sending my .40 tac off to springprecision.com to have dawsons, trigger work, NHO magwell, Novak big button, and have it hard chromed to be my L10 gun with a bonus I'm getting. Right now I'm shooting single stack 1911s but its just to expensive to reload .45 when I can get .40 brass so much cheaper!

Novak hasn't released the magazine extensions yet, but they've been discussed here and are supposed to be out by the end of Oct (Crossed Fingers). Scott's supposed to be letting us know Real Soon Now..

It's already got the CC trigger job, so the only thing that's going to take a smith is the sights. For that I'll just have someone local like Shuey or Tussy do it.

I may be out Ammoed, but I won't be out Gunned.....
