Today's match

I finally got to my first USPSA match today. 5 stages, 3 outdoor and two indoor. I again met my (lowly) goal of not DQ'ing. The adrenalin was freely flowing before the first stage.

I had a much better time than the "Steel Challenge" in July. I think I was a little more competent. I even received a compiment for hitting an A head shot (body was covered).

Folks were friendly and helpful. I just need to slow down to go faster (racing phase). The gun worked great except for one mag failed. I am pretty sure because I loaded .40 S&W round. I need to make sure I don't get this ammo (9 vs 40) mixed up!

I'm ready to go again.

Gee, I am sure I put more than 2 rounds in that mag. Dropped the mag and went on.

I'll be curious how I did. The sooner YOU go the sooner you join in the fun.

I received the unofficial results. I finished last in production. There were four production shooters. The good news is I didn't finish last in every stage!

One thing I need to do is when I am on deck to use my time wisely.

Plenty of room for improvement.

Like the Nike commercial. "Just Do It!"

My 13 year old son shoots USPSA with me. He's shot 4 matches now. I still make him walk every stage, no running, he takes his time, his goal (like Paul's) for each match is to finish the match, that means no DQ's.

I've found USPSA shooters to be a very friendly lot. They are very responsive to new shooters, they don't expect you to run through every stage like a Grand Master. They only expect you to be safe.

Show up at a match, tell them you are new, have an open mind and be willing to learn. Oh and have fun!

I have a client with his own outdoor range. I think I have him interested in this stuff. He has a Colt 9MM semi. Called me the other day "I found the holster". I bet he has had this gun for 10 or 15 years and never worried about the holster before.

I think we will set up mini-courses for fun and practice. I tried to order some targets but they were out until Oct.
