new york does not recognize out of state permits. nor does ny permits reciprocate in other states. it is a pain in the rear end my friends. i work for a local sheriffs dept and a gentleman from pennsylvania came to turkey hunt with his brother and brought his 9mm handgun and his 7.62 fn-fal rifle to target shoot while he was here. he was pulled over for speeding and ended up being arrested for criminal possession of a weapon because he did not have a nys permit and had high capacity magazines. i dont know the outcome of the case as i was just there to photograph the evidence and take the gentleman's prints and photos
