But you still have to have an eye exam taken in order to get an Rx to send them so they can make your lenses, correct?

Something else to think about, dont forget if you have insurance. Mine covered a substantial portion of the cost of both pairs, so it was an easy choice to have my optometrist make my shooting glasses.

Here is your answer: SunBuster| Sport Enhancement Eyewear

I shoot with many who need corrective lens and they all swear by the quality of this product. If you are going to shoot, invest in good glasses. The curve of the lens and where it distorts is keys. Shooters look out the top of the lens and not the center. This is why shooting with normal glasses sometime affect sight alignment and hits on target.

OS, from what I could tell from looking at the SunBuster web site, as well as one of the distributor web site, those are still just sunglasses, not prescription lenses. Maybe I missed it, but I didnt see any reference to sending the company one's Rx to have a set of prescription glasses made.

So far, for my situation, and anyone with a similar problem, I still dont see any options better than what I got. But if there are other options, keep them coming, they may be helpful to someone.

You first get glasses and in the box they give information on the place they work with for the insert. I actually got two - one with my normal bifocal and one with the one (right) eye for front sight focus and one for distance. I can swap them back and forth from shooting to just using sunglasses. They come with six different lens combinations. The whole deal cost about $300. Used them through a complete USPSA season with no problem. Took a little bit getting used to at first but once that happened was fine. Both companies know their stuff and are willing to work with you. I went to my regular eye doc, got the prescription and sent everything off.

I went to my ophthalmologist trying to get something similar and he told me it couldn't be done. I guess I need to talk to some of the other specialists in my town.

I wear trifocals which makes it harder for me to shoot. I still get it done, but it makes it difficult sometimes.

Talk to the experienced competitive shooters at your local range. See if any of them can recommend an eye doctor that understands shooting.
