Yep, sure they just don't want to be holding the bag on a bunch of over priced ammunition, once it dies down a bit they'll be back in full swing. Possibly with a few "Roll Backs" on Ammunition lol..
Give them nothing, but take from them everything...

I bought ammo today .45ACP, 38spc and 9mm and the Store Mgr was at the counter. I said so I heard that you stopped ordering ammo as a company. He said he just got off a conference call and that it was not true at all. I hope he is right.

It is not true. Walmart is not going to stop selling ammo. Ammo is scarce and what is available is being overpriced. Walmart doesn't play that game.

I had a conversation with a WalMart associate last night and he told me that corporate told all stores to not order ammo until the legislation is known. Not knowing what will be involved with the selling of ammo, they didn't want to get stuck with large quantities of ammo they couldn't move so are taking the safer route. They can sell what they have and what's in the warehouse, but that's it for now. The associate has been there for quite some time and wasn't a newb. It was the same associate that sold me the Colt 6920 and remembered me because I was actually nice/polite during the transaction (Ironic, I know. Wouldn't everyone be nice/courteous/giddy buying an AR.).
A lot of rumors. Who knows, maybe WalMart is saying one thing to the media and another to the stores.

This is probably closer to the truth. Think about the reaction and longer term consequences if Walmart announced they would not be purchasing any more ammo until they know what's going on with any possible legislation.

Walmart is a leader in retail. I am sure any decisions they make regarding guns and ammo won't put them out of business.

Yup:
Walmart responds:
Quote:
...
“That information is inaccurate,” said Ashley Hardie, a spokeswoman located at Walmart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.
WND then asked whether the retail chain is cutting back on orders of ammunition.
“No,” Hardie said. “We’re continuing to serve our customers as we have in the past.”
She said Walmart’s ammunition sales policy has not changed, even amid talk of gun-control legislation in Washington, D.C.
