If you haven't been here this is a cool site:

Gear | Uncrate

Today (this will slip down the page as new stuff is added) as you can see they highlight a BOB and provide links to all the contents.

They have lots of other fun stuff on the site if you explore not neccessarily Survival related but I thought I'd share since today's newest addition was.

They obviously aren't concerned about the cost of that BOB (and its contents).

I've found most of the time you get what you pay for but you bring up a good point. You don't always need the best. There is no reason why you can't substitute stuff like your XD45 and $40 surplus ruck sack for some of the crap listed there.

I just thought it was a cool layout on a site I regularly go to that might spur some ideas.

Wow in a strange coincidence one of my other favorite sites just did a write up on how to build a GHB:

How to Build a Get Home Bag (+Book Giveaway) | The Art of Manliness

Is that article by the same guy that did the "survival shotgun"?

So, anything in the bag worth buying? Some of the stuff isn't even sold on Amazon anymore.

Some of the stuff isn't practical ...

Like 3 days food, and a seed cache ... it's going to take longer than three days to grow anything to eat.

There are fancy-dancy tent pegs too, but no tent.

But, it's a good start, though.

I agree. Things like that are hopefully good for an idea or two.

That website is like the old Sharper Image catalog. Lots of cool gadgets and stuff at a premium price. I would guess the prices listed are all MSRP because nobody is gonna pay $500 for a Mossberg 500.
