What does SHTF mean to you?

Be realistic in your response, just what qualifies as SHTF to you? At what point will it take for you to walk the walk, versus talk the talk in deciding to use what you own against someone?

In most scenarios (as I see it) it will be martial law, so how would you deal with that?

umm, No water sources, No food sources..... Rioters, looters, rapists, murders, combined with no centralized gov't (local or federal) to offer assistance.....would be the very extreme.

Pretty much a national level or greater event. So complete economic collapse, super volcano, massive deadly pandemic, nuclear attack, meteor, etc...

A big storm with power outage is a disaster but not all out SHTF event in MOST cases.

No power, no police, no water.... Unprepared people going crazy trying to survive. Maybe not at first but eventually people will look for what they need

Rioting, break down of civil services, mass hysteria,total chaos basically the worst parts of the bible. that's when The SHTF

Katrina should have shown a lot of people that it doesn't take long for things to get out of hand, especially when you have so many people depending on the government. The police where all but useless and the government sent troops that it appears caused as much trouble as they helped.

To me an outbreak of a medical type or a finical break down is most likely.

Massive pandemic, Mt Rainier goes the way of St Helens, or the pending .gov collapse. Any of these happen and I will be staying home, rifle in hand protecting what is mine.

As sad as it is, all of those things may just happen. I have read that there is an effort to allow convicted felons to vote:

For me, SHTF = Any situation where the number of folks actively committing crimes exceeds the government's ability to intervene OR (conversely) any situation where the commissions of crimes are deliberately tolerated or perpetrated by the government.
