Emergency self powered radio.
Anyone have recommendations on emergency self powered radios? I've seen on at the Home Depot, but didn't jot down the model or manufacturer (it had an American Red Cross logo on it).
Thanks.
P.S. Nice to see some new sub-forums!
Edit: I think the one I saw at the Home Depot was from Eton - are these good quality for the money?

I use this one, has all the standard features needed (less solar power) and has the ability to charge cell phones. I keep a simple cell phone in the carry bag that came with it that I can pop my sim card out of my every day phone as a just in case measure.

I've got one that has AM/FM radio and flash light. It's got batteries, a crank, and solar power sources.
Also have two GMRS radios for communicating with the wife if we are separated.

I have a Grundig FR-200 with a hand crank.
It has AM/FM/SW1/SW2, and a single LED flashlight. It ain't stereo, but I have been trapped in a house with no frickin' info during a couple disasters. This thing made the last one bearable.
Why do I avoid solar? Because tha' sun doesn't shine when it's raining! During the winter? Too frickin' cold for me to wait on a charge.

I've had one of these for a while and it's a great little radio. It has AM/FM/WX plus a flashlight and illuminated dial. can run off crank up rechargeable battery or 3 AA's and comes with adapter to charge your cell phone from the crank up battery.

C Crane makes some good stuff, and this little radio has already proven to be quite durable.

Yes, I got mine from sportsmans guide. It has jacks for power cell phones, etc. It is solar, battery, and crank. It also has a flashlight and AM/FM/Broadband and NOA. It is also fairly light and compact. I learned that the last hurricane we had, that a radio is the best source of info when the power is gone.

I love my Eaton! Even in deep woods it gets a signal and it is pretty rugged!

i know it isn't an "emergency" radio, but my friends and I have built several stereos in ice chests. y'all may have seen some for tailgating. We have used marine stereo decks and speakers and they run on deep cycle batteries. We have a large one with 4 6x9's and an amp that will scream all day long tailgating or partying at the beach. We just built a small one using 2 6x9's, no amp, and a deep cycle wheel chair battery. It lasted 4 days of intermittent playing at the fishing camp without a recharge.
Like I said, not an "emergency" radio, but having one for the past storms (i live south of new orleans) has been really handy. Great for am/fm and hell just for entertainment.

Just for the knowledge!
REI has small crank/solar/battery radios with all the SW bands, and a light for $30.
