Looking at a benelli super nova tactical for $399. Not sure if thats a good deal. Has anyone had any experience with them? Are they very customizable? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

That is a good deal; most I see around here run $425-$500.
The are not as customizable as an 870 or a 500/590; the buttstock is part of the receiver, and non-changeable; the forend may be.
I was strongly considering one for a while; I can still see myself getting one.

I saw a brand new one this weekend in Big 5 for about $380, if I recall. It definitley caught my attention. I'm in the market for another pump gun and this one is high on my list.
Correction - I believe the model I was looking was the Nova, not the Super Nova.

That would be incorrect. On the Super Nova, the stock is very much independent of the receiver, aside from the fact that it bolts to it.
You would be referring to the Nova, which did have an integrated stock/receiver.
Edit: Just thought I would mention that with the SuperNova, you get a shim kit for shimming the stock.....getting it setup for you makes for a better pointing shotgun.

I've ran one for a couple of years (without the pistol grip stock). Here are a couple of write-ups from my web site. This may give you some insight to the Super Nova.

Thanks for the nice report! Did you ever run the Benelli at Front Sight? If so, how did it go in the class?

You are most welcome. Hopefully you got a little more info on the Super Nova Tactical.
My after action report for the tactical shotgun course at Front Sight.....and yes, I've ran the SN there twice. I'm heading back for another shotgun course the end of March. I picked up a semi-auto to try this time, the FNH SLP Mark 1. So far, I'm really liking it.

az98tj - Thanks for the link. Very nice article. The Benelli is looking better and better. I am planning to go to Front Sight in a few months so your review was extremely interesting to me. I also enjoyed your review of the Mesa Tactical shell holder. Thanks!

If you or someone you know needs a discount course certificate for Front Sight, let me know. I've got a few left.
