Benelli Super Black Eagle II

Well, I've been considering one of these for quite some time and since my b-day is right around the corner, I figured there's no better time. What's a good price for a new 12 ga. Benelli in camo? I've checked one of my favorite stores in Kentucky and I want to say they were around 1200-1300 bucks or so. Anybody know of a place to get one any cheaper or does that sound pretty good???

Thanks, just picked one up last weekend for 1400. Went with the 28" (wanted 26" inch but they didn't have one) in the Max 4 camo. Shot some 1 1/8 ounce loads through it the next day without any failures. Shoots great and feels great. Can't wait for dove and duck season to roll around now!

I have the older Super Black Eagle in 12 gauge, and a Cordoba in 20 gauge for my dove hunting.

My neighbor bought a Montefeltro 12 a couple of years ago. All three guns shoot wonderfully. and are beautiful in their simplicity. It does help to shoot some of the heavier loads initially (per the manual) to get them broken in, though.

Well, it's interesting but I have wanted a SBEII for years and thought I would buy one. I went into the store having convinced myself that I was going to save 300 bucks and buy the Beretta Xtrema instead. Normally on something like this, I close my eyes, put the gun against my cheek and shoulder and open them to see how it fits. The Beretta's front sight was always a little high. On the Benelli, the sights were perfectly in line like it was custom made for me. That justified the extra money however I know the Beretta is an excellent gun and wouldn't hesitate for one second to add one to my arsenal if the funds would allow.

When shopping for my Cordoba, I looked long and hard at the Beretta as well, but it just didn't feel quite right when mounting it.

It's a personal thing. Some people swear by them, others swear at them. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

Just out of curiosity, how light of a load with the SBE shoot? I realize you're supposed to break in with heavier loads, and they don't really commit to anything less that 1 1/8 but honestly, I just grabbed what I had out of excitement and headed out. Will these things cycle 7/8 loads when broken in?

My son duck hunts with an Xtrema 1 (the early one) and it's a hoss of a shotgun. People don't believe he always shoots #2 steel shot with a full choke and it does not blow-up. It's been a couple or 3 seasons he's done that, he routinely crumples birds at 40+ yards with that combo.

The SBE is one, fine shooting shotgun. It's the "hot" gun for the refuge waterfowl hunters here in Cali.

I know several people that have Benelli auto shottys and swear by them. I shot my cousin's 20 gauge Benelli last fall and was amazed at how low the recoil was.

Yes, if it fits you...go for it. They're very good guns.

That said, I am still rocking an early 80s Beretta 303 12 gauge for my main turkey and goose gun and it has been troublefree since I bought it in 1989.

If you ask me, the Beretta/Benelli semis are some of the best auto shotties made. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Don't know if I've ever shot the 7/8 oz. loads, but before acquiring my 20 gauge Cordoba, I routinely shot 1 oz. #8 loads on doves with no problems whatsoever.
