I just realized this is during spring break. The hotels at the Riverwalk cost more than usual.

The riverwalk hotels are usually more expensive than the other hotels in the area. I've gone with my girlfriend a few times, and stayed at some nearby Holiday Inns. They're within 10 minutes of downtown, and a lot cheaper.

Most recently we stayed at San Antonio South (Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites SAN ANTONIO Hotels | SAN ANTONIO SOUTH | Welcome). The hotel opened on Feb 1st, so it's brand new.

Before that we stayed at i-10 NorthWest, I really liked this hotel. We got a room with a hot tub for about the price of a regular room. The manager was really nice, and the staff was very friendly.

We walked by the Holiday Inn on the riverwalk, and it didn't look that great. Not worth the extra money, IMHO.

Hotels are much cheaper around Loop 1604 but there's an appeal to hitting the Riverwalk restaurants, bars and clubs then just walking to your hotel room. We've done it before. Not something I do often though.

We're still deciding.

You have a point! I personally am always the designated driver so I can't drink when I go out but it's nice to be able to walk around and party and then just stumble back to your room.

But seriously, if it's too costly or inconvenient in any way I don't think you should have to go out of your way to make this event. I'm not trying to pursuade you one way or the other because I want this event to be a success but I really don't want anyone coming down at an unreasonable personal or financial expense just to hang out with us and then go home disappointed for any reason.

Bump for all those planning on going to this event we have an updated venue please see the first post. Bearcreek was able to reserve us an entire BAY at Bullet Hole Range and got us a deal for 10bucks per person per hour they have ammo for sale in the shop, they also have no problems with you bringing out every gun you own plus targets! A big plus is they have rentals if you need to rent a handgun and for those thrill seekers out there they even offer Class 3 machine gun rentals supervised by a range officer. As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. Thanks!

YAY for Taco Malo!! He Rocks!!.. Oh yeah just to let y'all know... for those that show up... well there is a SURPRISE waiting for you!!!( Springfield Armory is sending us a "gift box" to show their support for the event... (if there is a new or refurbished XD in the box, I will be showing off my new toy that day )Not sure what the box will hold, but we will see!!!!

As a clarification on targets, each person will get 1 free when they show up... if you would like additional targets, they are $.50 each +tax.
