Have you guys check out the reprociticy list with NE? Colorado should be on the list. I'm excited I travel through NE several times a year with CCW.

nebraska currently will not recognize any other permits. However here are the states that will honor Nebraskas. Give it time, we will fight to get reciprocity established. In the meantime, I guess the best us nebraska residents can do is just get a non-resident florida permit so we can carry in more states. Below this picture are the states that the colorado permit can be used in.

For anybody who's been following the NE CCW law closely - I have some questions. I'll be in town from the 28th until Jan 7th (orig. from NE, now in the military) would like to get my permit while I'm home.
1) Any classes available in the Omaha area during that time? 2) I no longer have a NE DL (changed my residency to FL - no state income tax!), but the NSP website says a MIL ID is acceptable (I do still have bills & mail that goes to my parents' address) - any thoughts on the residency issue? 3) What is the status on Omaha prohibiting CC w/in city limits?

Peanut-
Sorry for the delay, I forgot to sign up for email notifications on the post. To answer your questions: 1) The only Omaha instructor listed on the Nebraska State Patrol website, notes that he is booked for January and February. I do have a class just a short drive down the road in Lincoln on Saturday the 6th, and if you shoot me an email soon I will get you in there. I still have a couple seats left. 2) Here is the residency definition from NSP- "Resident shall mean a person who has been a resident of this state for at least 180 days. This does not include an applilcant who maintains a residence in another state and claims that residence for voting or tax purposes. Unforunately, it appears that you must have a NE drivers license or NE state ID card to take the class according to the rules. 3) The city of Omaha has changed their law to recognize the state of NE permit. Note you still have to have your handgun registered with OPD though if you are carrying it in the city. My email is on the website if you need to get in touch or have more questions. www.neccwtraining.com Thanks! Chris |
