Not unless they start writing legislation that forces me to wear long sleeve shirts.

Baring my arms allows me to keep cool and get a nice tan.

What do your firearms mean to you?
Prior to early 2010, firearms were something that were used to put some meat on the table. It has been a long time since I have gone hunting however. I only went on four hunting trips with my dad over the years and they were all when I was between the ages of 13 to 15. We went deer hunting twice and rabbit hunting twice. I ended up getting 1 dear and 3 rabbits. We would go to the range once or twice a year to make sure we could still hit a target but thats about all. I was busy with school and work and at this point in my life my dad and I were not very close. My parents were divorced when I was 5 and that had a lot to do with with us not have a strong bond. My my how the times have changed... In early 2010 I was starting to get a not so good feeling about our neighborhood. Let just say I'm glad I listened to that twinge in my belly and got around to learning that firearms can serve as protection as well. You can read our story in the link in my signature line. After October 21st 2010 a firearm meant safety. When you have verified death threats against your family, few other possessions will help to control the ever presents of fear. Even now, almost two years later, firearms are a way of life. I feel very exposed when I travel to and from work as I am a civil servant employee working for the Air Force (no weapons allowed).

What the does the 2nd amendment do for you?
It allows me the ability to keep firearms in my home or on my person for personal protection or for sport. It helps to deter foreign powers from invading our nation and it keep common citizens from becoming victims from an oppressive government.

Do you conceal and why?
Yes, if you know me at all then you already know why, if you don't then read through the link in my signature line.

Do you think the upcoming election candidates will infringe on your rights to bare arms?
Anything is possible, but I would like to think that they know better to mess with something that people are this passionate about. I do believe that we will see extensive civil unrest early next year regardless of who is in office. My only advice is to be prepared.

To me the second amendment means that I can live without fear of the government coming to my door and trying to make me get on a train that leads to what only haven knows is at the end. In Hebrew the saying that is used to talk about what happened in Europe in the 1940s is "zacor" translated as remember.
Do you conceal and why?
I do carry concealed. I have been given a right, a right not exercised is a right not deserved.
Do you think the upcoming election candidates will infringe on your rights to bare arms?
I have a fear that the election will bring changes in gun laws. Good bad or indifferent we have put ourselves in this position, we will have to live with our dissuasions.

Firearms are history, engineering, hobby, passion, patients and fun all rolled into one.

What the does the 2nd amendment do for you?
The 2nd amendment was strategically place after the 1st in order for the people to understand that they may have to back up their words and rights. The 2nd calls upon the individual to take responsibility.

Do you conceal and why?
Were I can but I live in communist IL so that's basically at home. Were expected to hear from the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals by early August.

Do you think the upcoming election candidates will infringe on your rights to bare arms?
I hope not but Obama coming from Chicago doesn't have the best track record and having Hillary as one of his goonies isn't helping.

Honestly? To me they are just tools. I hold no emotional attachment to them. They will come and go. Some will stay longer because they're effective in their job, some will go because they're no longer needed or effective for the stated goal.

What the does the 2nd amendment do for you?

If I said it gives me a thrill up my leg will I get banned? Seriously though, the 2nd Amendment provides me with the ability to protect myself and those I care about. The Declaration of Independence states that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The 2nd Amendment makes sure that nobody can take those rights away from you.

Do you conceal and why?
I conceal carry whenever and where ever I can. Why? Because I can. It's really as simple as that. For too many years, Wisconsin lagged behind 48 other states to adopt a concealed carry law. We had open carry, but it was well known and well demonstrated that local law enforcement offices didn't care if it was legal to open carry. They would detain you and cite you for disorderly conduct on sight. Whether you were doing anything to cause a disturbance or not. All it took was one phone call. Now those people can stick their heads back in the sand and mind their own business.

Do you think the upcoming election candidates will infringe on your rights to bare arms?
I honestly don't think either candidate will take a run at the 2nd Amendment directly. However, the ability to enact legislation that directly affects ammunition and the manufacturers of ammunition, can, and I think will, cause the price of even basic ammunition to skyrocket. This will in effect, cause many to not pursue purchasing firearms. The obvious response is, "well, then I'll reload". But when the legislation targets the components of the bullet, it effects reloading too.

Firearms mean many things to me, as a child getting my first BB gun, a young adult getting my first shotgun, and finally as a father, protecting my family.

One day I hope those moments can be re-lived through the eyes of my own children, I don't think you ever forget the smell of fresh oil on your BB gun, or how long it takes to clean up a fresh pack of BB's that spilled on the floor, no matter the size your parents brought home that day. Those BB's would provide hours of fun, sneaking up on the elusive gray squirrel or waiting for just the right shot at the pop can so it flips in the air.

It's kind of a bitter sweet relationship really... the same thing that gives you hours of joy, in a fraction of a second, can change your life forever, but you train, perfect, and hone your skills to avoid having to use a gun in defense of your life or someone you love. What you never think about, is that you've really been training for that moment ever since you first held that BB gun.

Without the 2nd Amendment, it may very well be that none of this would have been possible. Today I have the freedom to bear arms, and to do so how I see fit, openly or concealed, and although I prefer to keep the carrying of a firearm my own business, I do appreciate the ability to have the choice.

My biggest fear right now is that my choice could at any moment disappear, our current Governor has made it quite clear that he will not support pro gun legislation and with the upcoming presidential election it leaves a lot of uncertainty of our rights as we see them. I'm confident however that we will continue to demonstrate the positives of private gun ownership by law abiding citizens, we've come a long way, and I think it's important to remember that.

Keep your head up, shoot straight, be safe, and never forget how great we have it!

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story.

Over the past 3 years, firearms have played quite a big role in my life. Today, to my friends I'm known as "the guy with the guns" -a reputation that I've grown into through my advocacy of carrying a concealed firearm for self defense.

At 22, a series of events finally opened my eyes to the dangerous ways of the world. The casual "want" of a firearm suddenly became a must have. After obtaining my concealed carry license I began carrying my firearm with me everywhere. The increased responsibility has helped shape my character into my adult life, and to this day remains near the top of the short list of best decisions I have ever made in my life.

I now find myself actively defending the 2nd Amendment of our constitution as almost an impulse reaction. It's an odd feeling to have become so passionate about something that was once only an afterthought in my life. I'm uncertain as to the effect the upcoming presidential election will have on my 2nd Amendment rights, but I am generally of the persuasion that all politicians want fewer armed citizens.

The question should not be "Do you conceal and why?" but "Do you conceal, and why not?"

I have actively encouraged all of my closest friends to take their safety into their own hands, and to realize that no one is responsible for protecting them but themselves. After a year or two of being the only one of my friends armed, I am proud to say now that nearly all of my closest friends have armed themselves and many of them have obtained a concealed carry license. I sleep better at night knowing that the people I trust have taken the responsibility of owning and carrying a firearm, and are capable of defending themselves in life threatening danger.
