CZ SP-01 review & range report
I recently purchased an SP-01 Tactical after scouring the internet for reviews and lurking on the CZ forum. I was torn between the XD9 Tactical and the SP-01, but decided to go with the SP-01 since I already owned an XD and wanted to try something different. The finish on this gun is beautiful and the ergonomics are perfect for me. With the night sights and 19+1 capacity this has now become my home defense weapon.
My first range outing was last week and I'm happy to report that my new baby functioned flawlessly through 300 rounds of various ammo. Not one hiccup.
100 rounds WWB
50 rounds Blazer 124gr.
50 rounds Blazer 115gr.
50 rounds WWB Personal Protection Hollow Point
50 rounds of the cheapest stuff the range had
I was very pleased with the accuracy of this weapon. This pistol performs well above my skill level. Recoil was almost nonexistent due the massive weight. This thing is heavy, 2.6 pounds but it's a real joy to shoot. The trigger pull for DA was really heavy / long and my accuracy suffered, but the SA pull was much better and my groups were significantly tighter. Once I've gotten to know this pistol a little better it will certainly be getting a trigger job. The pistol was filthy after running all that cheap ammo through it, but breakdown and cleaning was extremely simple.
This is my first CZ and I'm very pleased. It's a fine weapon.

Thanks for the range report. I own a P-01 and I have the same sentiments about that gun. Even with the 3.9" barrel on the P-01 it is more accurate than I am. I have Meprolights on my P-01 and I'm very pleased.
The P-01 is easily one of the best 9mm CCW guns out there today IMHO.

I got mine specifically because I wanted a LARGE HEAVY 9mm for plinking while still staying in the Service pistol category, I love it as well as it's little bro the 40Compact.

Yup, SP-01 is awesome.
Trigger gets better with use.
I've quickly put almost 1K rounds through it and it's just great.

I have had a CZ-75B for a number of years, and I love that pistol. I have owned lots of others as well. A week ago or so when at the funstore I handled a P01, and I must say that is the first pistol that when in my hand felt like it was custom molded for it and was just an extension of my arm.

I traded the combat trigger for that fishhook that comes stock on the Tactical, BIG improvement, I even Dremel'd the face of it to make it even straighter.

I have a 75b and have been thinking about adding an 01.
Thanks for the feedback!

I've been switching out my Glocks for CZs, starting out with the 75 Tactical Sport .40S&W and then on to 2 SP-01s and I just traded a Glock 36 for an SP-01 Tactical.
They are great for competition (USPSA & IDPA). With use or with a trigger job you'll enjoy that trigger and it's accuracy even more.

I just bought a 75B Stainless a few days back. I wanted to switch from the XD45 to the CZ for ammo reasons (my XD is .45 and the cost is killing me in IDPA)
I owned the P-01 with the decocker and didn't like it, so sold it. Now my new stainless 75 is cocked 'n locked and I LOVE it. Perfect ergonomics, long barrel, light and crisp SA trigger pull.
