My XDm 40 VS my Glock 23

First off let me start by saying all of this is IMHO
I am by no means a great shot or a gun guru what I
am in an everyday guy who has a small passion for
shooting guns .What I did today was I took my XDm 40
and my Glock 23 to the range .I preformed the same
type of shots with both guns and then took pics for
you guys to comment on .I used everyday Winchester 40s&w
ammo in both guns all day long .I only have two mags
For the Glock and 3 for the XDm .So here is what I
found out in pics then I will explain what I noticed

My Two 40 cal's I should say besides the paint these two guns
are stock ...for now !

XDm 8 yards 1 hand right then left

Glock 8 yards 1 hand right then left

Xdm 8 yards 3 round pulls 2 handed

Glock 8 yards 3 round pulls 2 handed

XDm 8 yards slow pull 2 hands

Glock 8 yards slow pull 2 hands

Ok so there are the targets .I ran through 500 rounds today
trying to figure out which gun was better for me .I will say neither
gun had any FTF/FTE rounds ! I consider that alone a good day !
The Glock has a lot more flip and it shows in the single hand targets
but it was noticeable to me in the 3 round pull trials as well. Also all
day I was occasionally plagued with rounds flying at my glasses out of the Glock
now I have just purchased it and its a gen 3 but I have not checked the
number on the extractor to see if its the one that needs replaced .
Overall it didn't seem as bad as I have read about.I think maybe the reason
I like the XDm so much is the grip .It is superior over the Glock for sure.
I am thinking about shooting IDPA and I am thinking of unloading the Glock
and getting another XDm .Any advise on either front or any comments on the
way I tried to solve my questions is always welcome .

The key to accuracy is a positive grip and a good trigger pull. If the XDm fits your hand better, you will experience better accuracy all else being the same. Glock 40's have some killer recoil though. Most people I know who have a glock 40 did NOT like the recoil when they first got it. Other 40s aren't as bad in comparison.

I own both, a Glock 23, (earlier generation) and an XDM 40 - 4.5" ---

Hands down, I like the XDM better, fire it a whole lot more accurately. From day one, with the first mag. I fired the XDM better than I ever did the Glock. With several changes to the Glock trigger and sights and some repairs, AND lots of practice, I can get my Glock groupings to be better, but have never been able to be as good as with the XDM.

There are different purposes for each though..... I would hate to try and carry the XDM as an every day concealed carry piece. Especially here in the south, no way I could keep that under cover in my normal attire. (The G-23 has also been replaced by a smaller single stack Kahr CW40 for edc).

My decision to keep the Glock and not trade it has mostly been the fact that I don't want to loose any money on the sale / trade, AND while my shots aren't going to win any marksmanship trophies, they are definitely combat accurate.

I am issued a Glock, but i shoot IDPA and use the XDM competion. The Glock is a fine pistol never had a function issue with it but i am truly biased. If you havent shot the Competion model try it you will never go back

Well I just got my first Glock but I don't really consider myself a fanboy. I will say I had the opposite experience, I shoot Glocks better.

You picked the one that was best for you, nothing wrong with that. I had a XDm, it was a great gun.

I would still have it if I hadn't made hundreds of dollars profit when I sold it.
( that's a whole other story )
