First time posting a range report, also first handgun, so go easy on me
Bought an XDm 3.8 compact 9mm last week. Tried out some different guns at various ranges in town and the XDmc in 9mm and the Glock 19 had the best erg feel to me, but considering I was going to be shooting Wally World 115 grain most days, the reliability concerns in the Gen 4 Glock made it a pretty easy call. A few boxes of ammo later and I'm very pleased with the decision. No FTF or FTE; just a smooth action every time.
After having no real consistency my first two times out, and putting my manly-know-it-all-ness aside, I asked the friendly range mama (all good ranges have range mamas, right?) for some tips. A few dozen dry fires and some random snap-caps later, most (not all, just most) of my recoil anticipation flinches were subsiding and I was very pleased. I've got a LONG way to go, but it's so rewarding to feel like when you are practicing you are working on solid skills to improve and not just wasting lead. Last grouping was the top left and it felt oh-so-good.
Anyway, lots of great tips on this forum and I hope to keep learning more.
