9mm service @ 20'

I took my 9mm service out this afternoon for some quiet range time. The light snow and 32 degree weather didn't stop me. Given that I live in a cold climate, I wanted to try shooting with light insulated leather gloves and in my winter jacket to simulate real world conditions.

I started out with 2 mags to see how the trigger felt through the glove. It was not too bad.


I obviously had some issues with trigger pull. The one flier at 6 o'clock made me chuckle. I actually shot the thumb tack that was holding the target onto the backer.

I adjusted my trigger pull and concentrated on the front sight a bit more for the next 3 mags...


I think it worked out pretty well for being sub-optimal shooting conditions.

Nice Job! The focus on the trigger really tightened the group up.

Figured I would do a follow up session at the range today since I didn't have the kids with me. I moved back to 30' and spent some time on silhouettes. Same conditions in the same cold weather gear.

Worked primarily on self defense shooting instead of targets. "Mozambique drill" and quick double taps to center of mass.


I added three more targets and moved more or less randomly between targets with the same techniques.





I have to work on tightening the groups now and faster follow up shots, but after about 300 rounds in my XD, I'm definitely more confident in my abilities.
