New ammo

I buy all my ammo from a local commercial reloader. He says "you gotta try my new 9mm ammo, it's a bit more expensive, but I guarantee you'll like it", and then hands me 20 rounds of it.

So today, I stopped in and before I could say a word, he says, "how many do you want?"

147gr bullet, not sure how he loaded it, but damn that was some sweet performing ammo!

I'm going to get a small qty for an upcoming competition, and then I'll place a bulk order with him later, as he's literally run out of the bullets.

I highly doubt my local commercial reloader is ready to ship out of state... he can barely keep up with his local business. WRT the heavy bullets, he also warned me to buy what I might want for awhile, suggesting that come spring time, the bullets will be back ordered for several months. I may stock up on these for matches, and just use the common ammo for normal hole punching.

I did an ammo test with my Glock G17 and FNP9 to see what they like the best. This is the first time I have tried anything like this. I used 115gr, 124gr, 124+p, 147gr and 147+p.

115 and 147 had the same felt recoil, 147 was slightly more accuracy.
124 was slightly snappier and a little less accurate than 115 and 147.
124+p was very snappy and my groups opend up a lot, too much in fact.
147+p had more of a rearward push recoil like a .45 but was very soft. I had less muzzle rise with this round so I was getting back on target faster. This was also the most accurate round in the test.

I now carry Georgia Arms 147+p speer gold dots as my off duty round in my CCW pistols. I did notice that there advertised muzzle velocity in the +p is only 100fps faster than the regular 147gr round but I got slightly better groups with the +p so thats what I went with. I also did a bunch of research on the 147gr and 147gr+p and found that both have excellent performance in ballistics jell and excellent clothing and barrier penetration abuilities. The 147gr had deaper penetration in the ballistics jell after going through multiple layers of denim but the 147+p had better penetration after going through a solid barrier.
