Free hand shooting in the woods.

Let me preface this by saying, carrying 100 rounds of .45 ACP in pack ain't as bad as people say...

We went camping this weekend, and the SA XD45 Tactical was in my Bianchi M9 (they make it for 5" bbls, and it fits like a CHAMP!). So we're setting up pop bottles at 35-40 yards, and just making them spin off the branches. Finally? I kneel, take aim, and shoot for the branch... WHAP!

Splits it perfectly! Yep! Shocked! It may be luck? But I'm claiming it!

A final wipe down with a towel, a mag of Federal Hydra Shocks back in, and back in the holster. All the newbies who haven't shot a pistol before were commenting on how comfortable it shoots.

Ive made some pretty awesome shots over the years but don't know that I could duplicate them.
1. Groundhog at 265 yards, standing offhand
2. turkey from the air with .50 muzzle loaer
3. beer bottle at 75+ yards offhand (first shot)

You get the idea. Remember them and cherish them, they are true bragging rights...lol

Unmentioned species of small bird landed atop my 100yrd target, Marlin model 60 .22lr using irons, in hand.
I let off a snap shot without even thinking about it, I don't remember aiming.
Bye bye birdie, perfect head shot.

I could make that shot again, taking my schweet time with a well aimed & scoped shot. But a instinctual snap shot, not likely.

The brain is one of the best computers ever, and sometimes, when we let it work without extraneous input from the conscious mind, it is capable of great feats.

Good shot bad shot

Most memorable shots every were as a youngster in elementary school I lived on a farm in Washington state. Had a Browning takedown 22. I used to shoot ground squirrels on the run. Then I moved to juice cans to see how long I could keep them in the air. But the most amazing shots that always got me in trouble were walking around the pond in very tall grass. When a ring-neck pheasant flew up and I shot it on the move in the air. Great shot but bad luck, Dad found out and I got in trouble. You see we raised the pheasants and turned them loose and he didn't want me shooting them. Still unbelievable for a 3rd grader with a 22.
