What?
I'm surprised no one mentioned FUBAR!
FUBAR = F**ed Up Beyond All Recognition. (Army talk)

Could have simply missed this with the eyes (im a newb and you can burn me if you want, cause constructive criticism helps a bunch), but, what about- WWJD? What Would J**** Do If no one mentioned this acronym, I feel accomplished and happy I could contribute to a thread. I have no experience in guns, etc, so my posting will be limited I will be doing most of the viewing!

Here's the Wikipedia entry for out-of-battery: Out-of-battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Basically, it's when the weapon hasn't cycled correctly, and hasn't returned to the correct state for firing, but a round is at least partially chambered and could be fired.
I had something like this recently when I checked my XDm's chamber and the slide didn't return all the way forward. Thankfully, the trigger wouldn't operate and I checked again and saw that the slide was out of position. I moved it into position and was able to fire. I just cleaned and relubed my gun and now when I check the chamber the slide very smoothly slides back into place.

Original Post or Original Poster, depending on context, meaning the starting post on a thread or the person who posted it.
