Actually, Maryland is the only state that has a database for every round fired. if a crime is committed with the gun in Texas however, that database info cannot be accessed. it's for in-state use only.

The case are included for a handful of cities that require them. I believe New York and Chicago and a few others take the cases when the gun is sold. Supposedly they can use those to identify the gun if used in a crime, though I have an issue with the reliabilty of case testing. My wife just received her NIB XDm 4.5 Green/Black a few days ago and the fired case envelope is dated the middle of May 2011 - 15 months ago - No wonder the green ones are out of stock just about everywhere.

I got a used xd 45 made in 2007 i traded a s and w sd 40 cal that was ammo picky but relatively new for it i got the better end of the deal i feel.

Sooo, what if I purchased my XDm used and without said case/shell/anal probe casing? How do I find out the assembly date?
