I know that you guys keep trying to integrate flags and everything and thats great for a poster or for a large design, or gun porn, it doesnt work for an actual logo due to the way the complexity scales down.

Furthermore, the logo we build for this forum is not going to be a logo for the XD itself, which might choose to emphasize the XD's origins as part of branding, but is rather for the community we have established here, which would probably not be best represented by a croation inspired branding effort.
I agree with wfrazee's perspective. With that in mind I really think that hexus is on the right track.

As I said before though, to me, when the image(s) that hexus create is scaled down, my eyes loose the word "talk". Frenchy made a valid point earlier that for a banner it wouldn't have that issue; however, what if we want to use it (with permission of course) just as Frenchy did as an avatar? We need the image to scale well.

Thought I would throw in my contribution, I'm liking hexus' designs, why not do like this and throw in the .com next to the talk. Same message across without repeating what you need to. Criticism helps more than you

That's a good idea to put ".com" at the end, but http://hs2000xdtalk.com isn't our web address. It will give an error.

At any rate, I'd like to thank everyone who has submitted their ideas. There are many great ones. As such, I'd like to submit my 2nd design idea (posted below). I had a thought to sort of mimick the Great Seal of the United States that you see on a few Federal seals and emblems. [Don't worry - they are NOT copyrightable]. I felt that this was probably the strongest symbol out there. And I'd like to portray our forum as being strong. I believe this logo will be easily scalable. I have the majority of it in AutoCAD (vector) so it can be scaled infinitely very easily. Which means as a small web logo or a printed poster, it'll be easily readable.

Description: On the breast of the American bald eagle is a shield with thirteen vertical white and red stripes beneath a blue chief (shown more "generic" to keep printing costs down (i.e. black and white)). Usually, the Great Seal would have an olive branch in the eagle's right talon, and a bundle of thirteen arrows in his left. I figured it would be appropriate to substitute some XD silhouettes. [Note: this is a first go-around idea. I would actually put a nicer line drawing of a service and tactical model of the XDs there instead.] I got rid of the scroll inscribed with the motto E Pluribus Unum. I also got rid of the golden glory breaking through a cloud and the constellation of thirteen stars in order to provide room to continue our forum "title."

This idea can be modified, or simplified a little. We could add stars maybe, to "fill in" the border some. What do you think?

Design 02:

As always, constructive and destructive criticism is welcomed. Basically, I'm trying to create something that will work as a web logo, T-shirt logo (front), decal, poster, banner, whatever.

I still prefer a simple design using stylized text and no graphics. A text design such as hexus has come up with is powerful and to the point, IMO.
A busy design takes away from the message. Everyone knows what a black polymer pistol looks like, without plastering one on a logo. It’s easy to get too cute with a design...KISS applies here.
As I have said...this is strictly my opinion.

OK, here's as simple as you can get, providing minimal info (just our forum name and web address). Certainly would qualify as "too simplistic" in my book, but what do I know?

testy ???

You asked for thoughts and ideas.
Some here have given thoughts and some ideas.
hexus has a good design, might need a little more, but the graphics are simple, and eyecatching.

It's your project, do what you want.

No, I wasn't being "testy" at all. People have been talking about keeping it simple, so I made a really simple logo. I was just giving you another one of my ideas. I just thought it was too simplistic, so I told you that.

And I've thanked you all for your help and input. That includes all ideas so far. I didn't mean to come across as being anything other than thankful and appreciative.
