Surely SA will bend a little and grant permission to Kermee to use the XD even though it is registered.
This forum is in particular the sounding board for SA's benefit, quality control and promotion of the XD line of firearms.
SA, are you listening?

No, they're not listening. I've already been in contact w/ SA about this stuff (through the XD decal idea). I've already mentioned to SA about practically giving them free advertising, etc.. and they said that they aggressively protect their "XD" logo and the SA name. The "XD" logo, and the "XD Gear" logos are copyrighted. I know that. I've seen SA's copyright application for those items, and have seen the government's "copyright granted" documents. But you can't copyright a business name (US copyright law).
We're NOT using SA's copyrighted "XD" logo. We're only using plain everyday text. No one can copyright that. We're not putting SA's name on our logo, so that's not a problem either.
I believe we're in out legal rights to use the letters "XD" on our forum. And HS2000. We don't need permission. You can't copyright regular text, which is a good thing, since we'd all have to write the ™ symbol every time we typed "XD" somewhere. And every store that sold the XD couldn't write "Springfirld Armory XD" on their advertisements or catalogs or signs or anything. And that would just be crazy. And disadvantageous to SA.

Um, ok... I'm not sure about R/T's post (they own shapes and urination).....
But I do know this:
I find it hard to believe, that of all the people who work at SA, not ONE of them has heard of or read any threads on our forum here? Not one SA employee is a member here?
I mean, they import the XDs and have their name on them. We discuss and brag about and troubleshoot and recommend XDs left and right, and we call SA and email SA... but yet none of the employees has ever heard of our forum? I know there are people in SA who own XDs... but yet not one is a member here? Hasn't any SA employee visited this site?
You know very well, that if anyone at SA saw our forum and thought it was "bad" or broke one of their copyrights, don't you think SA would have been all over Kermee? Wouldn't we have seen a post by one of SA's employees by now warning us of a legal issue? Someone would have heard about it I would think.
To make everyone at ease: I have an email into the US Copyright Office asking about our logo idea for our forum and our forum's name, just to make sure we're not stepping on SA's copyrighted toes. I'll let you all know what their response is.
Then hopefully we can put this whole copyright issue and discussion to an end. I know I'm getting tired of it.

Sorry for the wait everyone.

Thanks to all who have contributed their ideas, thoughts, expertise, opinions, and constructive criticism. It all benefits our forum by helping to design the forum's official logo.
I'll let you know what he says ASAP.

Sorry, Dave...
I must of meant 30 Hawaiian Minutes. Going through all the logos right now...

UPDATE:
Well everyone, Kermee had emailed me earlier this evening and told me he went through all 9 pages of this thread. He saw many nice logos.
From what I gathered, I'm not sure if he's convinced that we should have a gun pictured on the logo (be it in silhouette or whatever). I'm guessing that's for the sheeple out there, and for our protection (as some of you have already posted in other threads about "advertising" you have a gun).
I replied to his email with comments and more questions for him, particularly about what HE envisioned his forum logo to be like.
I'll let you know what he says.
Thanks everyone for your patience.

HS2000/XDTalk Forum doesn't exactly roll off the tongue but I do like hexus' design if it isn't a trademark infringement.
