I just bought both the XD compact .45 with 4" bbl and an XDm compact .40 with the 3.8" bbl. The XDm grip is about the thickness of the plastic magazine foot shorter than the XD grip.

I like the idea of the "better" XDm but the XD actually feels better in my hand.

The XDm slide is slightly narrowed at the top, vs. the XD.

+1 on the XD fitting your hand better. Mine does also!

KaptnKal, I have the XDsc 9mm. I find it to be an excellent cc weapon for me. I think you would like it.
