"See the people in the windows? They'll sit right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home," he said. "They're going to remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should."

That says it all for me.

Thats a great article and brought tears to my eyes, not out of weakness but for respect for the men and women who wear the uniforms of our armed services.
Never forget!

I attended a Funeral for a Army National Guardsman, that was KIA in Iraq.
It is an experience that I will never forget.
I did not know the man but a neighbor's husband is in this man's unit, so I attended the funeral with his wife because he was still in Iraq.
The unit is home now.
They lost 3 men in the same attack.

After I came home from Desert Storm, I was assigned to funeral detail. My job of honor was to be part of the 21 gun salute. I never felt more honor than when I pulled that trigger 3 times per funeral to salute our fellow brotheren. There is nothing quite as solice as a military funeral.

I am reading at work... I keep having to take breaks to avoid such a consequence. Very well written feature and a nice reminder to all of us the sacrifices our armed forces make daily.
If so inspired, remember that this week is Thank a Soldier Week. Please send a thanks to a soldier overseas during Christmas: http://www.thankasoldierweek.com ... if you weigh the few minutes it will take to fill in the form box on that page versus the time and respect our soldiers deserve, there is no reason not to do this.
