Will Firedraggon barrels void SA warranty? This is a discussion on Will Firedraggon barrels void SA warranty? within the SA-XD/XD(M) Accessories forums, part of the XD Talk category; I'm thinking of getting a .357 conversion barrel, and was just wondering.
All the best,
Glenn...

I would think only if you sent it in with the firedragon barrel installed, I have 4 XD's with diff. conversion barrels for all of them except the 45 and haven't had any probs. at all.

With warranties - think of it this way.
If you do something that could damage other components and that happens, then I doubt it will be covered.
When using a conversion barrel, what could happen that wouldn't have happened with the OE part? Personally, I can't think of anything.

Sorry, but I'm new to the whole "conversion" thing. I didn't even know something like that was available until after I purchased my XD and started talking to my friend about it. I didn't even know you could buy other barrels for a handgun. My previous handguns have all been "shoot em, clean em, store em... if it ain't broke.... don't mess with it" kind of thing. This will be the first handgun that I "tinker" with, so I'm learning all I can right now, thus all the questions.
All the best,
Glenn

I'm the same way (shoot it, clean it, store it, etc) - but, as far as I know, a conversion kit is just the barrel and maybe a mag?
That's how I look at warranty stuff. My apologies if I came across abrasively, it wasn't my intent
I'm curious about it too - though with my 9mm, I don't have any options for a conversion that I know of

The conversion is usuallu just drop in quick and easy , sometimes you have to do a little filing around the surface by the barrel hood to make it fit. If you convert to 9MM be sure to purchase some 9MM mags to go with it other than that I can convert to diff. cals. in about 20 sec.

Thanks everyone. That all makes sense. I'm going to order a .357 conversion next month, and then the 9mm conversion the following month if everything works out as planned. I figure that will give me lots of versitility, and I don't have to justify to my wife the purchase of two more handguns (she won't know what those little "shiny pipes" are in the gunsafe , and if she asks and I say "extra barrels", she won't care - "extra guns"... well that might be another story ). As long as the filing is done on the aftermarket barrels, and not my actual gun, then I'm cool with that. . I'll let you all know what my experiences are when I finally get them.
All the best,
Glenn
Oh... by the way - can I buy the "ported" Firedraggon barrels if my original gun is not ported? The FD barrels look like the ports are past the front of the slide. Will that cause problems?

If she never looks in the gun case, then just don't tell her!
