xd-9 and mags

I am in California, and have bought an xd-9 4" service model... my question is this... the 10 round mags that come with the gun are CA legal. the mags for the xd-9 that hold more rounds do they fit in the same gun or was there something changed to the gun for CA stuff so they only take the 10 round mags

Just guessing, as I don't know, but since XD9 16 round mags will fit the subcompact (just stick out the grip), my guess is that you can use the 16 round mags once you leave CA.

They even make a sleeve for the 16 round mag for a subcompact that in effect extends the grip length.

Both my XD9 and XD40 boxes have big stickers about being illegal in CA with extended mags.

Nothing is changed in the Kalifornia DOJ approved XD, so you should have no problem with using the standard capacity magazines in a free state.

if you bought an XD in CA, then yes, the 10rd mags are CA legal. if you can find 16rd mags, good luck, but by all means you can use them in most other states

They're still out there. Just shared on another thread that one of the stores I go to in the Dallas area continues to get them. I bought two 16 rd 9mm XD mags last weekend and there were plenty of all types there.

My LGS has 3 16 round mags left. Noone really seems to want them so I will slowly buy them up as I get extra cash. I have three now and hope to have six by the time its over.

Order them on the Springfield site. Got two new 13 rounders for my XD 9 sc and an extra 45. Took about 3 weeks total bill around 100.

If you live in Ca (like me) You can only buy 10rd Mags. You can go to NV and buy some 16rd mags and take them apart before you come back. Then put it together when you go shoot out of state. But you have to go to NV/Oregon/AZ to buy them, don't get them shipped to you. Chances are they wont ship them to you anyways.

But if you have them in CA and don't want to get in trouble they need to stay in a disassembled state while they are here. Then They are not illegal.

Want more help go here, calguns.net some of the people there are very helpful.
