I have two pair of their Academy shorts and one pair of their pants. Personally, I like the Academy shorts. I wanted something a little shorter to facilitate movement during USPSA competitions.
The black shorts faded badly. The khaki shorts and pants have not faded. All have held up great.

I can understand your skepticism. I had my doubts as well when I first picked up some gear. BUT dang!! I've had two pairs, khaki and black, for almost 3 years and they've held up something fierce. I've used them in training, casual wear, camping etc.. you name it, only problem I've ever encountered... The button on the inside (you guys who own a pair probably know which one) came off one day. Easily replaced.
Good products IMHO.

You don't get it? It's "tactical". You could say the same thing about the 5" XD.

I got 2 pairs of 5.11 Tactical pants, even though I only ordered one, let me explain.
The first pants I wore developed a tiny little hole, that actualyl never grew larger. Well I called up 5.11 and the service lady was super nice, told me to email her a picture of the hole. I did so and they rushed out a brand new pair of pants to me and didn't even ask for the old ones back. I was so happy with their service I bought 2 more pairs.
Guys, support companies that take care of their customers, you won't find Levi sending new jeans because of holes.

See my previous post for customer service and the pants are built very well. I've done my training classes in them and am always going prone and sitting on the knee's (the knees on these pants are reinforced). They hold up extremely well.

Well I'm a ER nurse and wear the 5.11's at work all the time. They wear well, have plenty of pockets and just plain look good! Currently have 4 pair and most of them are for work but am also known to wear them just out and about!
GREAT pants!

5.11 makes some good stuff, but they do have QC issues. I recently tossed my 5.11 shorts after wearing Woolrich Elite products. Woolrich seems to be cutting into the 5.11 market, after all, Woolrich makes the digital patern BDU's for the military.
Woolrich Elite products are hard to get right now, but www.rogueelite.net seems to have the most.
